The Soviet Infulence
from Turksib to Nightmail

Turksib (1929) classic film by Soviet director Viktor Turin about the building of the Turkestan - Siberian railway. Silent with English intertiles.
This new and restored digital edition of the 1930 John Grierson version of the film is part of a two cd set which includes six short British documentary films from 1930 to 1936 (finishing with the critically acclaimed "Night Mail" about the travelling post office) which illustrate the great influence exercised on British documentary makers by Turin's film. Some of those British films will be shown also.
All are welcome.
